Bruce had a decades long distinguished real estate career that began at Canal and Vassey Real Estate Company. He founded Bruce Associates REALTORS® in 1971 and spent the next 50+ years selling and appraising residential and commercial real estate. He was a mentor to many real estate and appraisal professionals and never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge of the field with others who were eager to learn.
Over the years, Bruce gave countless hours back to the business he loved. He was heavily involved as a Board and committee member of the local REALTORS® Association community where he served as President of the Camden County Board of REALTORS® in 1983 and of the NEXUS Association of REALTORS® in 2002.
Bruce lived a life of service which was instilled in him during his time at Girard College in Philadelphia. He began the “Pine Barrens Triathlon” racing series that he organized and ran for many years. The proceeds from the events were donated to the Girard College Alumni Association and the Association enacted the Girard College Alumni Scholarship Fund in his honor. He was also named as a recipient of the Stephen Girard Award, the most prestigious award given by the school, which he was honored and humbled to receive. He never forgot the school that helped to shape him into the man he became.
He was a lifelong athlete and focused on fitness. Even at 85 he would exercise daily or take his miles-long walks through his surrounding neighborhoods, but real estate was always his true passion. Those who knew him well often joked that he would never retire, which was more truth than jest, as Bruce was still working in the office up until his passing.
Bruce was fiercely loyal, generous beyond measure, and truly thoughtful. He never missed a “Happy Birthday to You” singing phone call to family, friends, business associates and clients, and he was the glue that kept his Girard College brothers in the Class of '57together with his emails and texts. He left a lasting impact on all those who knew him both personally and professionally. He is greatly missed but never forgotten.
